Overall I came 796 out of 3326.

Which is in the 23rd percentile. I’m fairly pleased with that.

The results aren’t categorised yet so I can’t see where I came in the 40-45 category.

It probably won’t be too different I should imagine

Swim 2000 60%
Bike 735 22%
Run 609 18%

So I did best on the run overall and not far behind on the bike and pretty poorly on the swim.

I think I went off a bit too hard in the swim and that slowed me down a bit well a lot really!, Compared to my pool times in relation to Chalky my mate who did the race I was about 2 mins 30 down on what I should have done, so that was a bit of a disappointment.

I’ll have to do a LOT more open water swimming in a wetsuit to get that time down

It was pouring with rain on the Saturday the day that I did the race and lovely sunshine on Saturday so my bike time would have been slower as a percentage compared to the rest of the field and perhaps may come down to the 18% mark that I achieved on the run. That would make sense as I probably do equal amounts of running and cycling.

I’ll enter some more triathlons in the future now that I have got the wetsuit and my bike sorted out. I’ll use the bike to cycle to Karate a bit more often

and maybe go out on an occasional long ride, I’ll take my wetsuit when I go on holiday to France and swim in the Dordogne at Dave and Hilary’s and when I go up to Scotland to visit Ingrid and Blythe. Apart from that I probably won’t do any specific triathlon training. I’m never going to be competitive enough to win any events as I’m too heavy. If they start weight categories and there is an over 100KG category then that might be different as I might have a chance then.

I loved this simple step and am definately going to practice it in my life, even when I come back from a training session on a frozen February morning comes from a succesful Sport Psychologist Jim Fannin who works with a lot of golfers and baseballers

Can 90 seconds really impact your entire day?

By Jim Fannin

If you have been away from people that you care about, such as family and close friends for at least two hours, the first 90 seconds that you see them has more impact than spending hours with them later. How many times have we gone home from a hard, long day at work and we dismiss the ones we care for upon arrival? I’m too tired. Not now, I want to rest first. How about when we say nothing at all? How many times have you been greeted at the door and you were not aware of the mood or disposition of the greeter?

The next time you go home after an absence of two or more hours, prepare to give your family and /or friends your undivided attention. 90 seconds. That’s all it takes to say with your attentive words and actions, “I love youI need youI missed youI value youI need you in my life.” You may have to make that last cell phone call in the drive way or you may need to clear your brain for a few minutes before you walk through the door. Be prepared as you enter a new life arena. The 90 second rule. It works at the office, home or any place where you care about the occupants.

I believe there are a number of reasons that Rooney got himself caught in this situation.

The excitement of winning, peer pressure, wanting to prove himself to his team mates and more importantly once he had started losing, he would have wanted to bet his way out of the situation. Anyone who has ever traded on the stock market or spreadbet in any way knows that it takes a very disciplined and savvy investor who is able to cut their losses and take a hit.
